Circuit Tracks XT8

Custom DSP patch library

101 short musical previews across the six custom synth engines — a rising arpeggio then a held chord, the same phrase for every recipe patch so they are directly comparable. Rendered offline through the emulator-qualified fixed-point kernels.

How to read this page

Each recipe engine (DX, FM4, supersaw, pluck) plays the same short phrase, so within an engine the patches are directly comparable; only the register shifts per category (basses sit low, bells sit high). The DX engine now imports real DX7 factory voices, so its patches span genuinely different timbres. The chip and organ engines don't have a per-patch recipe ABI yet, so their sections are the fixed demo song sliced up.

DX (6-operator FM)

21 patches

Six-operator FM in the classic DX7 lineage — the full 32-algorithm topology imported from real Yamaha factory voices, so every patch carries its own modulation graph, operator ratios, feedback and envelope motion. This is the engine's widest timbral range: electric pianos, bells, basses and brass that actually sound like different instruments. Card id 3.

FM4 (dual-pair FM)

16 patches

A lean four-operator FM voice: two modulator→carrier pairs projected from real DX7 factory voices — the strongest two edges of each voice's actual algorithm, with genuine ratios, indices and brightness decays. Card id 4.

Supersaw

42 patches

Seven detuned saws plus a sub octave. The only timbral axis is the detune width (tight solo blade → wide lush swarm) and body; patches are now spread across the full usable range for audible contrast. Card id 5.

Pluck (Karplus-Strong)

16 patches

A plucked-string model with two controls — excitation brightness and ring time. A narrow-gamut engine, so patches are fanned across the full brightness/decay range to contrast as much as the model allows. Card id 6.

Chip (8-bit)

3 patches

The 8-bit “chip” engine: band-limited pulse oscillators (12.5% / 25% / 50% duty) and a triangle, plus a 15-bit LFSR noise generator. Baked-defaults only, so this is the fixed demo song in three sections.

NES Lead pulse arpeggios, duty 12.5/25/50%
Square Bass 50% pulse driving bass riff
Noise Percussion LFSR noise kit over a triangle sub-bass

Organ (drawbar / additive)

3 patches

A nine-partial drawbar/additive organ at classic Hammond footage ratios (16′ through 1′), with a percussive key-click transient. Baked-defaults only, so this is the fixed demo song sliced into three registrations.

Fat Drawbars 888888888 — warm gospel-ish triads
Hollow Comp 8′ + 2-2/3′ + key click — jazzy comp
Bright Stabs upper partials emphasised — bright stabs
